When the Night Comes Falling from the Sky Shaman Sculpture
The When the Night Comes Falling From the Sky Shaman is made predominately from salvaged metal. Plasma cut by hand, the image is based on a Barrier Canyon-style anthropomorph found in the San Rafael Swell in east central Utah sometimes referred to as the "Meteor Shaman" (photo #7). The abstract head is made of resin, mica powder, and ground turquoise from the American Southwest. The face is reversible: glossy yet subtle on one side, colorful matte finish on the other. The snake, which comes to life when the wind blows, is actually an old saw blade found in the Oregon Badlands Wilderness. (Watch video below.)
Dimensions:
47 inches tall
19 inches wide
This marriage of rustic and fine art makes a very special one-of-a-kind gift. (If the piece will go outdoors I can add a couple of holes in the base so the sculpture can be staked to the ground.)
Ten percent of profits from this sale go to the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (csvanw.org).
