And the Background is the Night Kachina

This piece is part of the No More Stolen Sisters series. Inspired by the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women movement, And the Background is the Night Kachina is made predominately from salvaged metal.

The lightning has been plasma cut by hand into the reclaimed steel. Repurposed motor lamination sheets form the wings. A section of flattened and distressed copper tubing adds additional visual interest. The resin head features a red hand, the symbol of the MMIW cause, set against the backdrop of stars in the night sky.
