Inspired by ancient rock art, rust, and Linda Ronstadt, The Beat of a Different Drum Kachina is made almost entirely from salvaged metal. The abstract head is made of mica powder-infused resin, while the copper disc "drum" has been hammered to provide some added texture.

The image plasma cut by hand into the steel is based on the McKee Spring Petroglyphs
found at Dinosaur National Monument in Utah (photo #7).
