She Who Watches No. 7
Two turquoise chips form the eyes. A thin coat of resin covers the repurposed copper face. A bear claw has been plasma cut by hand into the rusty metal.
She Who Watches is based on the Wishram story of Chief Tsagaglalal (Suh-GOG-la-lal), a woman who lived on the cliffs above the Columbia River. One day Coyote came along and asked the chief what her greatest wish would be.
"I would like to watch over my people forever," Tsagaglalal said.
Coyote, being a powerful trickster, turned her into a rock.
Chief Tsagaglalal is still there today, watching over us. You can find her pictograph at Columbia Hills State Park near Dallesport, Washington.
This marriage of rustic and fine art makes an unforgettable gift for you or someone else... because everyone needs someone to watch over them.
Dimensions:
31 inches tall
