She Who Watches (No. 5)
She Who Watches is based on the Wishram story of Chief Tsagaglalal (Suh-GOG-la-lal), a woman who lived on the cliffs above the Columbia River. One day Coyote came along and asked the chief what her greatest wish would be.
"I would like to watch over my people forever," Tsagaglalal said.
Coyote, being a powerful trickster, turned her into a rock.
Chief Tsagaglalal is still there today, watching over us. You can find her petroglyph/pictograph at Columbia Hills State Park near Dallesport, Washington.
The image of She Who Watches has been plasma cut by hand into the metal. (No computer-generated mass production 'round here.) The abstract head is made from copper and flame painted and patina-ed before being sealed. The metal headdress comes from old snap ties used in construction.
Ready to hang indoors or by your favorite water feature, this marriage of rustic and fine art makes an unforgettable gift for you or someone else... because everyone needs someone to watch over them.
Dimensions:
23.75 inches tall
6.25 inches wide
Plus, 10% of profits go to the Navajo Water Project (navajowaterproject.org).
