Mercy Mercy Me Shaman

Inspired by the magic of ancient rock art, rust, and the Marvin Gaye song, the Mercy Mercy Me Shaman is made almost entirely from salvaged metal. The scene plasma cut by hand into the steel is based on some of the petroglyphs found in Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument in Utah (photo #7). The abstract head is made of resin, mica powder, and ground turquoise from the American Southwest. The head is reversible: glossy yet subtle on one side, colorful matte finish on the other.
