Make Me Wanna Holler Shaman
Celebrating the eternal magic of ancient rock art, rust, and Marvin Gaye, the Make Me Wanna Holler Shaman is made predominately from repurposed metal. It features Ancestral Pueblo-inspired petroglyph symbols plasma cut by hand into the steel, including the circular-armed figure that can be found in the San Rafael Swell in southcentral Utah. The fingers and hair are made from old snap ties, while part of an old southwestern rustic door knocker outlines the head.
It's been 50 years since What's Going On came out. Sadly, of course, the songs could have been written yesterday. Or tomorrow. I listened to it on repeat while making this piece. I remember mi vieja singing along to “Mercy Mercy Me” whenever it played on the AM radio while she drove us around L.A. (If I were a soccer player this is where I'd point up to the sky.)
Dimensions...
Height: 78 inches
Width: 12 inches
Depth: 1 inch

Whether outdoors or inside, this six-and-a-half foot tall marriage of rustic and fine art makes an unforgettable gift for you or anyone who doesn't want to be judged because their hair is long.
Plus, 10% of profits go to the Navajo Water Project (navajowaterproject.org).
